The videos appearing above and below featuring Dakota Ridge Llama Farm in Ballston Spa, New York as captured for posterity by Marji Guyler-Alaniz of www. FarmHER.com.

Katrina started with one llama, Dakota, as a wedding present from her husband Gary 25 years ago and today that has grown to 57 of the unique livestock.

Upon scrolling through my Facebook news feed recently, I happened upon a delightful video posted by friend and fellow Ballston Spa High School class of 1981 alum Katrina Petteys Capasso, owner of Dakota Ridge Llama Farm in Ballston Spa, New York. The video showcases a September 2019 interview with Katrina by Marji Guyler-Alaniz of FarmHER.com.

That was, of course, just months before New York City, 186 miles south of Ballston Spa, became the COVID-19 pandemic’s official epicenter in March 2020 with Saratoga County coronavirus cases increasing soon thereafter. (Visit https://www.voanews.com/science-health/coronavirus-outbreak/new-york-city-becomes-new-epicenter-covid-19 and https://www.saratogian.com/news/local-news/positive-covid-19-cases-surpass-200-in-saratoga-county/article_73f1e24a-7c1e-11ea-8bfe-6f5266a903d2.html for related details.)

After viewing the video from my home-office in Littleton, NH, I messaged Katrina to say I’m looking forward to visiting her at  Dakota Ridge Llama Farm with my grandchildren just as soon as coronavirus social distancing restrictions are relaxed enough to safely do so. Afterward, I will update this feature (in which the original video recording by Marji appears in two parts) with additional photos and videos from my Dakota Ridge Llama Farm adventure.
