Stories behind masked faces

Among those Ballston Spa Living Editor Ann Hauprich (in black mask) photographed wearing protective facial coverings during April 2020 were Susan Stevenson James and Glen Kaytar. The brightly colored mask Susan wore while out for a Easter Sunday stroll during which she practiced social distancing etiquette had been creatively fashioned from a sleep mask she had received from an Air France flight attendant during the summer of 2019. Glen, meanwhile, was inspired to fashion his mask using fabric sold at the popular local department store where he was photographed on April 4 near a display that educated customers about how to make their own masks as part of efforts to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The inspiring stories of Susan, who recently returned to her hometown to help care for her aging mother, and Canadian-born Glen, who also offers landscaping services in the village, will be among those featured in the Ballston Spa Living 2020 Community Yearbook. Webmaster Mary Hauprich Reilly and granddaughter Aubrianna also wisely don face masks when prudent to do so. (We welcome photos from the Ballston Spa community.
